Biology

At La Roche University you'll perform original research and conduct your own experiments.

You may choose between two bachelor's degrees in biology. No matter which one you pursue, you'll receive theoretical training, real-life research opportunities, service learning experiences and a competitive curriculum.

Bachelor of Arts in Biology

This degree offers a strong foundation in biology and allows you to minor in a non-scientific field. This option prepares you for positions that require a background in biology or science in general.

Bachelor of Science in Biology

This degree prepares you for employment at the bachelor’s level, or for post-baccalaureate programs in medicine, pharmacy, veterinary science, dentistry and graduate programs in the life sciences.

Novel Research

You’ll gain hands-on laboratory experience through BioSOLVE, a student-operated laboratory dedicated solely to student research.

Academic Excellence

Many of our biology students receive departmental honors by completing honors theses. An honors designation provides you with distinction in your field of study, making you a more competitive candidate when you apply for scholarships, jobs and graduate school.

Dual Degrees

We offer pathways for you to apply biology to the fields of engineering, health care or medicine. One way to maximize your professional potential is to combine your bachelor’s degree in biology with a degree from an area institution.

    University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering
    This joint program allows you to earn a bachelor’s degree in biology from La Roche and an engineering degree from Pitt.

    Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM)
    This option offers an early acceptance to medical, dental or pharmacy school with the largest medical school in the nation.
